Throwback Thursday- Brighton Music Hall

7/30/2015

Earlier this week Bobbie and some mutual friends of ours made a trip to Boston's Brighton Music Hall to see a Fantastic Negrito performance.  I, unfortunately, was unable to attend, but in getting some details of the show, I was reminded of how incredible it is to be able to see a show at Brighton Music Hall. It's a great little venue.

This week we purchased tickets to two more recently announced Lone Bellow shows (Boston and South Burlington), and we already have tickets for their Seattle and one of their NYC shows. (There's nothing so great as knowing you have some Lone Bellow concerts in your near future!) After these concerts, we will both be into the twenties as far as the number of times we've seen them.  We may have to stop counting, which is not a bad problem to have!

It was over two years ago that we first entered Brighton Music Hall, having no idea what we were in for. (You can read more about that here.) I found this video from that night of "You Never Need Nobody" and was reminded of  just how much they impressed us from the get-go. We are a little sad that we most likely won't get to see them in that space again, but are grateful for every chance we do get to see them, no matter where it happens to be.

We loved this interview with The Lone Bellow on CBS This Morning. It was great seeing Zach's family - those girls are beyond adorable - and that cute photo of Kanene and Jason in China. My favorite quote from Brian - "I want to grow up to be that old guy in the diner."

Cayamo Videos

Now that the lucky passengers aboard the Cayamo Cruise have returned home, we are able to see, with a little help from Youtube, what went on on that boat. We've pulled some of our favorite videos from the voyage, and hope you enjoy them, too! If you were on the boat, we would love to hear from you!

Up first, this video of The Lone Bellow doing a cover of The Judds song, "Grandpa", with another one of our favorites, Brandi Carlile.
And we never tire of seeing them perform "Watch Over Us"- gosh, Brian's voice on this song does something to us!

Some great interviews

As expected, The Lone Bellow is getting a lot of attention these days. We're a little embarrassed to admit how much time we've spent online trying to read everything they're mentioned in. We just don't want to miss anything! Of course, not everything we read about the band sticks with us, but we did really enjoy these two articles that surfaced this week.

When you see The Lone Bellow perform live, it's quite obvious how much fun they have together, and how they most definitely care deeply for one another. We loved reading this Paste article, which perfectly captures the bond they share. It's really one of the best things we've read about the band. This article also reminded us of the "Return to Brooklyn" video, which gives a little glimpse into their lives as New Yorkers.

We also really enjoyed this interview from Johnathan Bernstein at CMT Edge. In this piece, the band talks about the connection between their fans and their music, and they are, as always, incredibly humble.

Video: The Lone Bellow on Letterman

First, congratulations to The Lone Bellow on the official release day of Then Came The Morning! We can't stop listening to it!

Second, did you catch them on Letterman last night? It was a classic performance, full of passion and soul, and Zach's foot-stomping energy. We can not wait to see them live next month! We wonder if they will bring all those fabulous string and horn musicians with them? And it will be amazing to see Kanene playing bass guitar and keyboards!

If you didn't catch the show last night, here is the video of the band performing "Then Came the Morning" on Letterman -

It was great to see The Lone Bellow on Jimmy Kimmel last night! They performed "Cold As It Is" for the broadcast. Kanene was on keyboard, and the band had a trombone and trumpet to accompany them. And it looks like the lucky crowd got to see them perform "Heaven Don't Call Me Home" post-broadcast! These videos are really getting us excited about seeing them live in February!

Were you lucky enough to be at the KPRI Private Listener Concert in San Diego last night? If so, we would love to hear about it from you!

For those of us who couldn't be there, I found these videos from Regan314 and San Diego's 102.1 KPRi to help us cope -

Last spring, The Lone Bellow did a Back Porch Session with Garden & Gun magazine. What we would have given to have been on that porch for this intimate performance!

If you haven't had a chance to hear Diners, one of the songs on their upcoming album, you can listen to it now - it's the third song they perform.

Here it is - the video collaboration between The Lone Bellow and SerialBox Presents! It is gorgeous, sweeping music and video that beautifully conveys the depth of this song. It is incredible how perfectly in sync such a large ensemble can play together. This builds or anticipation of the album even more!

    Who We Are

We are Abra and Bobbie, two friends living in Boston who go to a lot of concerts together. We saw The Lone Bellow, having never heard of them, and could not believe our good fortune in discovering such talent. We now try to go by the "Four-Hour-Rule", meaning if we can get to a show within four hours, we will be there, hopefully right up front.
